Hermosa Beach

The perfect mix of lively and laid-back

Hermosa Beach lives up to the origin of its name, derived from the Spanish hermosa—meaning beautiful—with its pristine beaches and remarkable oceanfront properties. This sophisticated beach community is conveniently located between Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach along the southern edge of the Santa Monica Bay. Compact and extraordinarily walkable, Hermosa Beach spans 15 blocks north to south and 40 blocks east to west. This welcoming community is a hotspot for young professionals and families, with nearly half of its population falling between the ages of 18-44 years. Coursing along the Pacific Ocean, The Strand is a paved pathway that runs the length of the coast from Torrance Beach north to Santa Monica. Some of Hermosa Beach’s most luxurious properties can be found along The Strand, which are often envied for their uninterrupted oceanfront views.

Dining

Hermosa Beach eateries bring stunning, fresh fares to the table. Palmilla Cocina y Tequila kicks Latin cuisine up a notch with pomegranate pepita guacamole and refreshing Palmilla margaritas that are perfect for a day in the sun. If you’ve spent the day at Hermosa Pier, head over to Rok Sushi Kitchen where a Californian twist is put on traditional sushi with fresh seafood, oceanfront views, and a drink lounge upstairs. Farm-to-table restaurant meets gastropub at The Hook and Plow, which pairs rustic stylings with sophisticated ingredients, and for French food on the patio, Creme de la Crepe is a picturesque bistro serving scrumptious meals all day long. Their menu, as their name suggests, includes a hearty selection of sweet and savory crêpes.

Things to Do

A whopping 94 acres of public beach access and nearly two miles of oceanfront properties are appealing to anyone craving a dose of saltwater and sun. Hermosa Beach Pier and Pier Avenue are the city’s must-see for shopping and dining. Uncorked is one of Hermosa Beach’s finest wine tasting rooms, while Curious…, an offbeat gift shop, offers a curated selection of quirky home decor and novelty items.

Twice annually, Fiesta Hermosa heads to Downtown Hermosa Beach to celebrate more than 300 artists, from painters to sculptors, jewelers to photographers, and more, with an arts and crafts fair. On both Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends, Fiesta Hermosa offers street food, a beer and wine garden, and a kids entertainment area, making it fun for the whole family. The Hermosa Beach Fine Arts Festival celebrates student artists as well as professionals, showcasing 100 juried artists during this two-day event.

K-12 Education

For families with children, Hermosa Beach City School District offers a number of distinguished learning facilities, while Hermosa Beach also offers several private learning options.
